'Massive concern' - Wenham worried about Tottenham loanee after recent developments

John Wenham is concerned about Dane Scarlett’s progress on loan from Tottenham with Oxford United.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is worried about the striker’s lack of playing time with his temporary club.

Scarlett has featured in just two of Oxford United’s five matches – starting once – since he joined the EFL Championship club on a season-long loan.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – claims that this needs to change.

“Scarlett’s lack of playing time is a massive concern,” Wenham said.

“He has moved to a club where they already have quite a few forwards. Therefore, I am pretty concerned that Scarlett isn’t going to get many opportunities.

“This was the loan that had to go well. Of course, we don’t know what will happen throughout the season, but he needs to start playing soon.

“I am getting worried that he is the only loanee who isn’t really getting consistent minutes at the moment.”

Scarlett burst onto the scene at a young age in North London. However, he hasn’t been able to kick on since making his Spurs debut.

The striker has seen multiple loan spells not go his way. Therefore, supporters would have been hopeful that his time with Oxford United would help him progress.

However, so far it looks as though it is doing the opposite for the 20-year-old.

If this loan doesn’t go well, some behind-the-scenes figures at Tottenham might start to reconsider the striker’s long-term future with the club.
