Wenham hails Dominic Solanke as Ange drops injury update ahead of Tottenham v Arsenal

John Wenham believes Tottenham would have seven points in the Premier League if Dominic Solanke had been fit for their past two matches.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims the striker will be needed against Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (15 September).

Solanke, signed from Bournemouth for £65million last month (Sky Sports), has missed the past two games with an ankle sprain but is back in training and Ange Postecoglou said he will be available providing he comes through a session on Saturday (Sky Sports, 13 September).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that Solanke could play an important role defensively against the Gunners.

“I genuinely think if Solanke had been playing, we would have a minimum of seven points on the board right now,” Wenham said.

“Just having someone at that front post will be key in the game. I think Solanke can play that role, just as Harry Kane used to do. Arsenal scored twice against us from corners in this fixture last season, which was incredibly frustrating.

“Therefore, if Tottenham can defend corners well this weekend, that would put them in a good position to get a positive outcome from the match.

“As a result, I think Solanke starting is an absolute must, provided he is fit.”

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke to return against Arsenal?

Spurs haven’t made the best of starts to the season. Despite their positive performances, they have picked up just four points after three matches.

A big problem has been converting their chances. Therefore, it is fair to assume that the presence of Solanke would have made that easier.

As a result, the club will be desperate to get him back out on the pitch as soon as possible.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham has been left thrilled after a recent announcement which is set to provide the club with a financial boost.
