'Maybe something happens': Premier League manager now 'open' to move amid rumours of Manchester United talks

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag faces an uncertain future after a poor start to the 2024/25 season.

The Red Devils currently sit a lowly 14th place in the Premier League table and pressure is mounting on the Dutch manager.

Several managers have been linked with the Manchester United job in recent months, including Thomas Tuchel, who has just taken the England reins.

However, a different manager said to be on the Old Trafford club’s radar has now refused to rule out a big career move.

The coach in question is Thomas Frank, who has been superb for Brentford over the past six years.

Thomas Frank happy at Brentford but ‘open’ to new opportunities

It was reported back in May that Man United held talks with Frank’s agents, as well as with Mauricio Pochettino’s representatives.

Pochettino is now in charge of the United States, ruling him out of the Red Devils picture alongside the England-bound Tuchel.

However, Frank appears to still be in the picture, with talkSPORT saying Man United remain admirers of the 50-year-old.

Frank, speaking to talkSPORT’s Jim White about his Brentford future, said: “I’ve said many times I’m very happy at Brentford.

“Who knows what will happen in the future. Maybe I stay here for many years. I’m open, maybe something happens.

“But first and foremost, very happy, just working very hard every day to make the club better.”

White followed up on Frank’s claim that he was ‘open’ to a future move and asked the Dane what he meant by his comment.

“That’s because it’s very difficult to predict the future,” Frank said.

“Who knows what will happen. How many coaches have been at the same club more than six years? Very few.

“[It’s] the nature of the game, let’s put it that way.”

Frank coy on Manchester United rumours

However, Frank remained tight-lipped when asked specifically about links with the Man United job.

“There is a lot of rumours out there,” he said.”Every club, every coach, all kinds of situations.

“I have this nice little principle that I never speak about players that are not in my club because I don’t know them well enough. And I don’t speak about speculation either way.”

Frank perfectly positioned for big career move

The Brentford boss has more than proven himself in the Premier League, working wonders with his side and keeping them punching above their weight in the top flight.

Harry Redknapp is one of his fans, previously saying Frank has done an “incredible” job at the West London club.

Frank’s stock continues to grow steadily, and he is perfectly positioned to make a big career move in the next nine months or so.

The summer would be the perfect opportunity, but depending on what happens with Ten Hag’s future, a big opportunity could soon emerge that few would find difficult to turn down.
