Medical later: Player to sign four-year Rangers deal in next 24hrs - report

Connor Baron is to undergo a medical ahead of completing a move to Rangers in the next 24 hours, according to the Daily Record.

The publication reported on its online edition on Thursday (20 June) that Barron is to sign a four-year deal at Ibrox.

Rangers have already informed Aberdeen of their intention of signing the soon-to-be free agent, it is claimed, and they will now need to agree a compensation fee with their Scottish Premiership rivals.

Barron also had offers from Hellas Verona, Stoke City, Cardiff City, Swansea City and Plymouth Argyle, but he chose Rangers.

Connor Barron should be good fit for Rangers

Barron caught the eye with Aberdeen last season and arrives with the added bonus of being a homegrown player.

Given his availability on a free contract – or something close to that when factoring in the compensation package – the Gers can be pleased with this business.

More than anything, it is another player through the door in the opening week or so of the transfer window.

Philippe Clement wanted the Light Blues to quickly get to work and they have done exactly that, with Jefte and Clinton Nsiala also arriving.

Already with 59 Scottish Premiership appearances to his name, Barron will not need much time to get up to speed at Ibrox.

More arrivals are imminent, and hopefully the Gers can bring in a marquee signing to round things off further down the line. For now, though, the club deserve nothing but praise for getting the business done.

In other Rangers news, Chris Jack is confident the Gers will win the race for a European striker.
