Mega-money transfer exit update as Everton star wanted ahead of January - report

Everton are not concerned about ongoing interest in Jarrad Branthwaite and are ready to fend off interest in the January transfer window, TEAMtalk reports.

According to the outlet’s website on 13 October the club aren’t willing to budge on their valuation of £75million and won’t consider an offer unless it is in that range amid links to Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Even so it is still considered “very unlikely” that the club would let him go in the winter window.

Branthwaite has a contract to 2027 and according to Paul Joyce for The Times on 3 October the Toffees want to open further talks on an extension.

Dan Friedkin takeover at Everton to strengthen transfer position?

If Everton refused to alter their stance throughout the summer when United had multiple bids rejected it is only logical that they would be even more clear midseason.

The Friedkin Group have since agreed a takeover deal with Farhad Moshiri and their arrival is expected to spark Toffees activity in terms of transfers and contract talks [i News, 9 October].

And it has been suggested that the reason the Roma owners arrived back on the scene with such speed was partly due to feeling there is likely to be a need to strengthen in January [Matt Slater, 27 September].

Sean Dyche’s side suffered without Branthwaite in the line up for the four defeats to start the campaign as he was on his way back from groin surgery so it would clearly weaken the side to let him depart.

The only way it could make any sense was if a mega-money sale eased the PSR picture midseason to such an extent that multiple new arrivals could be brought in to help the squad in separate areas.

But that would still be a risk unless signings were lined up ahead of time with extreme confidence that they would be able to contribute immediately.

And from a public relations perspective The Friedkin Group will surely want early moves to build on the positive feeling created by the takeover, and letting arguably the top asset leave would do the opposite.
