The final clash between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park could be disrupted by Storm Darragh on Saturday.
According to DaveOCKOP [6 December], the Met Office has issued an amber warning for wind on Merseyside, with gusts expected up to 80 mph in coastal areas and 60-70 mph inland.
A yellow warning for rain has also been issued with conditions on Merseyside expected to ease off approaching the Merseyside derby on Saturday [7 December].
Everton are, of course, underdogs heading into the contest and will be eager to give Goodison Park the Merseyside derby send off it deserves all while relieving the mounting pressure on Sean Dyche.
How will Storm Darragh affect Everton v Liverpool?
As things stand, Storm Darragh will cause minor disruptions when travelling to Goodison Park, but the match itself is at no risk of postponement amid the weather warnings.
However, potentially dangerous winds and torrential rainfall will cause treacherous conditions for all those attending the Merseyside derby, and supporters should take care in their travel preparations.
The forecast is expected to ease in time for the 12:30pm kick-off on Saturday – the turbulent weather conditions could make for a thrilling contest at Goodison Park.
Dyche could use the conditions to his advantage and lean on Dwight McNeil’s “perfect” deliveries from set-pieces to replicate his efforts in the 4-0 win against Wolves on Wednesday [4 December].
But still, the Blues are facing one of the most in-form sides in Europe, and Arne Slot will be out for blood after allowing Chelsea to bridge the gap at the top of the Premier League following the 3-3 draw against Newcastle United.
The harsh conditions paired with a loud and volatile Goodison Park atmosphere is a daunting prospect for any opposition, and the stakes are at an all-time high.
Regardless of the result on Saturday, supporter safety must remain the utmost priority and travelling fans from either side of Merseyside should take care travelling to and from the stadium on matchday ahead of what will be a scintillating contest in L4.
In other Everton news, a time for Sean Dyche’s exit has emerged in a shock Goodison Park development.
