Michael Stewart slams 'big' Rangers player after what he saw him do v Dundee today

Michael Stewart slammed Robin Propper’s defending as Rangers won 3-0 against Dundee in the Premier Sports Cup at Ibrox on Saturday.

Oluwaseun Adewumi managed to sneak past the Dutchman after a poor reading of the ball from Propper which caused him to mistime his clearance.

The Gers were leading 1-0 at this point so if the attacker managed to get on the end of the ball, things could’ve gotten a bit hairy for the Gers.

Stewart slammed the 30-year-old’s defending live on Premier Sports (21 September, 6:12 pm) and claimed that if Adewumi was fit he would’ve likely managed to get on the end of it.

“That was far from convincing there from the big Dutchman, at the back” Stewart said.

“If Adewumi had been fully fit, he perhaps would’ve gotten on the end of it.”

Rangers back to winning ways

Rangers have had a poor start to the 2024/25 season by their standards but over the last couple of games, they’ve managed to step things up a gear.

Pressure has been building upon Philippe Clement’s head [Chris Jack, 17 September] since the Old Firm loss but with these recent results, the Gers are likely hoping their decision to extend his Ibrox stay will have paid off.

The Gers’ main goal for the season will be to dethrone arch-rivals Celtic and finally manage to secure number 56.

Although their latest victory against Dundee is in the cup, the fact that they’ve managed to get to the semi-final will no doubt boost their confidence.

With all the drama going on outside of the club after John Bennett’s sudden resignation [The Athletic, 14 September], it feels as if the recent wins have brought some serenity to Ibrox.

There’s still plenty of time for things to change of course but Clement will be hoping their winning streak continues going into their Europa League clash v Malmo on 26 September.
