'Different class, Fantastic' - BBC Sportsound pundit blown away by Rangers midfielder v Dundee

Nedim Bajrami was dubbed a “different class” by Rory Loy after his movement to create the first Rangers goal in their 3-0 win over Dundee at Ibrox on Saturday.

Philippe Clement’s side booked their spot in the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals with a routine victory against the Dark Blues with in their first match back at Ibrox this season.

The Gers dominated the tie from the first minute and the players showed that they still have what it takes to thrash other teams.

Speaking live on BBC Sportsound (21 September, 5:50), ex-Gers forward Loy applauded midfielder Bajrami after he managed to glide past Dundee winger, Oluwaseun Adewumi.

“The movement from Bajrami was a different class,” Loy said.

“I just spoke minutes earlier about Adewumi and the work he needs to do, he did give it his all to try and get back but he switched off slightly, Bajrami got the run on him.”

The Albania international was evidently the star of the show as later in the game, he managed to set up Dessers’ second strike of the tie and was praised for his pass to set the Nigeria international up.

“What a fantastic ball that is, so quick as well,” Murray said on BBC Sportsound (21 September, 6:58)

“The defenders have got no time to settle themselves, Carson has no time to settle himself, it’s a wonderful finish on his right foot”.

Rangers struck gold by signing Nedim Bajrami

Rangers signed Bajrami for £3.3million during the summer transfer window [Gianluca Di Marzio, 30 August] with the attacking-midfielder being the club’s marquee signing.

Throughout the entirety of the window, Clement was on the hunt for a number 10 in order to bolster his attacking ranks.

While he likely didn’t imagine Tom Lawrence having as good of a season as he has done thus far, Bajrami has now settled and has started to come into his own and has tried to stake his claim for the starting spot.

It was evident from his Euro 2024 performances that the Albania international had a wealth of talent and that he would improve the Gers’ team tenfold.

Pressure has started to build in recent weeks around the future of Clement’s job [Chris Jack,16 September] but if they manage to keep up this winning streak, they could be on their way to number 56.

While there is plenty of time left in the season for things to change, as more of Clement’s new arrivals make their way into the first-team fold, the team can only get stronger.
