Moshiri in advanced talks to sell Everton as new shell company emerges - report

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is in advanced talks at Goodison Park after a new shell company called Toffees Ventures Ltd emerged, according to i News.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (7 June) that businessmen and Toffees supporters Andy Bell and George Downing have set up the new business registered at Companies House, with Bell listed as its director.

Bell and Downing are both interested in taking over from Moshiri at Goodison Park and this decision to set up and register this new company would suggest that talks between the two parties may already be at an advanced stage.

With 777 Partners now seemingly out of the picture at Goodison, Everton fans can begin looking to a brighter future under new ownership and it appears as though Moshiri won’t have any shortage of potential buyers.

It would be excellent from a fans’ perspective to have two supporters of the club involved in some capacity at the top of the club. One of the main criticisms levelled at 777 was the fact they felt like a complete corporate entity.

Whether Moshiri will be willing to sell to Downing and Bell remains to be seen, but as the report suggests, their decision to register a new business officially would suggest that these discussions are already advanced.

Fans have been put through the wringer over the last few months with constant speculation surrounding the state of their club off of the field. Hopefully, Toffees Ventures Ltd will finally put the needs of the team first and solve these financial issues.

Whether or not these talks with progress into a genuine takeover being agreed remains to be seen but supporters will hope to receive some sort of communication from the club sooner rather than later.
