National media reacts to 6/10 int'l display from Rangers ace after what he 'Unintentionally' did

The media in Czechia have praised an unintentional impact from Vaclav Cerny after the Rangers star’s performance against Albania on Friday [11 October].

The 26-year-old started in Prague and played 69 minutes as his team saw out a 2-0 win in the Nations League, before becoming the first player substituted off by coach Ivan Hasek.

Cerny’s blocked shot allowed Tomas Chory to score on the night, as a win on Monday [14 October] against Ukraine could now take them top of their group.

Czech outlet iSport.cz [11 October] gave the winger a 6/10 rating, explaining: “He gave the team a hard time when he blocked a promising break.

“Although unintentionally, he contributed to the winning goal. Mobile, he caressed the ball in a classic way.”

Vaclav Cerny making an impact for Rangers and Czechia

While it was not the most glamorous of displays from Cerny on Friday, he still made a crucial impact which is what Rangers fans will have taken solace from.

Two things will have mattered most to the Gers faithful, however – and those were for Cerny to come through unscathed from injury, and Nedim Bajrami on the Albanian side in Prague to manage the same.

Bajrami played 18 minutes longer than his opposite number did, but both were able to keep their match sharpness ticking over and Philippe Clement will have been almost as happy with that as when they were both tucked up on their respective benches.

As pointed out by a supporter on X [11 October], the duo swapped shirts after the game as a nice touch.

The Wolfsburg loanee headed into the international break in roaring form after his match-winning display against St Johnstone, and could be the difference between a steady season and an underwhelming one at Ibrox.

He is certainly the type of player who Clement needs around, and to stay fit; he will perform as long as his rapport with the support in Govan is maintained.
