Dan Bardell believes Jose Mourinho would be an ideal replacement for Sean Dyche at Everton if Dan Friedkin takes over as owner.
The current Toffees boss has come under fire this campaign after winning just one Premier League game in the opening six of the season.
If the former Burnley manager was to lose his job, Maurizio Sarri has been mooted as a possible replacement if TFG’s takeover goes through [Corriere dello Sport, 25 September].
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested Mourinho as an option amid links to Gareth Southgate in recent weeks.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “Everton have been nearly every style and type of manager other the last decade.
“I wouldn’t have an obvious candidate at the minute, Gareth Southgate has been linked but he has been mentioned by Manchester United as well.
“I think Friedkin will come in and take his time and not rush into anything but there will be obvious links to someone like Jose Mourinho.
“I weirdly think he would really suit Everton, I think that would work. They are underdogs in their own city so I think Mourinho would really fit in there.“
Jose Mourinho mooted as Sean Dyche replacement at Everton
The new owner at Goodison could want to change the club to fit his own image with the managerial role seeming like an obvious change to make.
Dyche was heavily praised last campaign for his work in keeping Everton in the Premier League but things have gone the complete other way this year.
It could prove to be a risk to sack the experienced coach but it could also prove to be a positive new manager bounce if someone like Mourinho comes in.
The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss is currently managing Fenerbache but an offer from Friedkin could prove to be too tempting to turn down.
His football may not be too dissimilar to the current approach at Goodison but having the gravitas of the ex-Real Madrid manager could be a necessary boost ahead of the Bramley Moore Dock move.
In other Everton news, Dele Alli has been hit by a fresh injury concern as developments have now emerged from Finch Farm.
