'Trebled in value' - Wenham hails Tottenham star after multi-million Fabrizio Romano news

John Wenham feels the success of Destiny Udogie could convince Tottenham to sign Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes Udogie’s value has “trebled” since joining Tottenham.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (7 September), Spurs and Chelsea had Dorgu on their transfer shortlist this summer. However, talks did not advance as Lecce wanted between £25-29million.

But Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels this is a player who the club could return for.

“Considering the success of Udogie, this could be seen as a good move,” Wenham said.

“Udogie has basically trebled in value already after just one season. As for Dorgu, we’ve seen his name mentioned in a couple of transfer windows now.

“Therefore, he is probably a long-term target for the club.”

Tottenham to sign Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu?

Dorgu is a 19-year-old left-back playing for an Italian club, just like Udogie was when he was signed by Tottenham.

Therefore, Spurs could see Dorgu as someone who could follow in Udogie’s footsteps.

Ben Davies is out of contract in North London next summer. As a result, Ange Postecoglou will already be thinking about a replacement for the long-serving star.

Therefore, Dorgu could be the perfect option, especially if he does half as well as Udogie did in his debut season.
