Neil Lennon has predicted Celtic to win the League Cup final after sharing his concern with the mentality of Rangers.
The Gers are preparing for a trip to Hampden Park on Sunday (15 December) as the Old Firm rivals battle it out in the first final of the season.
This won’t be an easy task for Philippe Clement’s side regardless of a positive run of form and ex-Bhoys boss Lennon can’t see them taking the League Cup back to Ibrox.
Speaking on the The Warm-Up (12 December), he said: “I’m going Celtic. The players have got the mentality, they’ve got ways of hurting you. Whether that be the wide players or midfielders and they’ve got the strength in depth.
“I’m not saying it’s going to be an easy one, Rangers have got momentum at the moment. You just worry about the mentality of Rangers once they go a goal down are they going to dig it out or if they go a goal up can they hold out?
“I just think Celtic are a bit stronger. I’ll go 2-0 Celtic, Kuhn will score I think.”
Neil Lennon shares Rangers v Celtic prediction
There is no doubt that the Light Blues travel to Mount Florida as the underdogs against their most bitter rivals who they haven’t beat since May 2023.
The last time the two sides met Brenden Rodgers’ side secured an easy 3-0 win in one of many dark days under Clement’s management.
Things have turned around in the last eight games with the Gers going unbeaten while picking up positive wins against OGC Nice, Kilmarnock and Ross County.
The goals have been flowing with Hamza Igamane and Danilo all but forcing Cyriel Dessers out of the side in recent weeks.
If this duo in particular can maintain their form ahead of the trip to Hampden, there is no reason why they can’t cause problems for the Celtic defenders.
There may be issues going the other way as Kyogo Furuhashi looks set to cause issues for the Gers once again if he starts.
