Newcastle United need to add some more firepower to their attack.
Alexander Isak is a top-class striker, but the Magpies don’t have much depth in that position.
Callum Wilson has been injured for a long time, and at the age of 32, Wilson may not have too much longer left at the top level.
Newcastle need a new striker, and according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on NUFC Matters, the Magpies are keen on Richarlison.
Richarlison is now open to leaving Tottenham.
The journalist says there’s substance to the links between Newcastle and the Brazilian, but the pricetag around this deal is a big issue.
Newcastle want Richarlison
Jacobs spoke about Richarlison and Newcastle’s interest in the striker.
The journalist says that Newcastle are keen, but there is a gap in valuation between the parties involved.
“There is some substance to Richarlison and Newcastle, but the price is a big issue. Spurs have been adamant throughout 2024, that if they’re to entertain an offer it’s £60m or more. Newcastle wouldn’t be looking at anywhere near that number given his injury record and form.
“If this were to develop, from Newcastle’s point of view, it would have to be around that £40m or £45m mark. Nothing is advanced or particularly concrete yet.
Richarlison’s record alongside Anthony Gordon
This is a move that makes a lot of sense given Newcastle’s need for a striker.
Richarlison should also be able to fit in well at Newcastle as he already knows a number of the club’s players.
Indeed, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes and Richarlison’s teammates at international level.
However, more intriguingly, Richarlison played with Anthony Gordon at Everton.
Tottenham were actually keen on signing Gordon at one point, and now, Richarlison and Gordon could be re-united at Newcastle.
However, Newcastle need to be wary as this partnership wasn’t the most fruitful at Everton.
Games 39 Wins 13 Draws 6 Losses 20 Richarlison goals 15 Anthony Gordon goals 2 Joint goal participation 2
Gordon and Richarlison don’t really click all that well, as the numbers show.
Both players are very talented, but, more often than not, they would lose when playing in the same team, and they only assisted one another twice in 39 outings for Everton.
Richarlison to Newcastle makes sense in a lot of ways, but Eddie Howe may want to be careful if he plans on using Richarlison and Gordon in the same team once again.
