Newcastle United fans were blown away by Emil Krafth’s “outstanding” performance against Tottenham this past Sunday (1 September).
The Magpies defeated Spurs 2-1 at St James’ Park to continue their undefeated start to the season courtesy of goals from Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak.
However, Newcastle fans were taken back by the performance of Krafth, who has been filling in at centre-back so far this season due to injuries to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles.
The Sweden international is predominantly a right-back, but he’s played every minute of this season as a central defender after Newcastle failed to sign someone in that position during the summer window.
The north east giants had been heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, but no deal was reached despite lengthy negotiations.
The 30-year-old has fit in well during Fabian Schar’s three-match suspension, with Newcastle starting the season positively.
Newcastle United fans have been impressed by Emil Krafth
Krafth only started eight games in the Premier League last season and wasn’t even in the match-day squad for the first nine games.
However, with Eddie Howe dealing with injuries and suspension to key players, the opportunity has been provided to Krafth at the start of this campaign.
Newcastle fans believe he’s taken that with both hands, praising him for being an “unsung hero” at the club.
In other news, Newcastle United fans rage at ‘pathetic’ James Maddison after what he did.
