Newcastle United fans have been taken back following a controversial decision in injury time in their 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on Sunday (25 August).
Dango Ouattara thought he’d scored the winning goal for the hosts before referee David Coot ruled the goal out following a VAR check.
The officials deemed the ball had come off the winger’s arm after he beat Dan Burn in the air and his effort flashed past Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope.
That decision meant the game ended up all square after Anthony Gordon’s strike on 76 minutes ruled out Marcus Tavernier’s first-half opener.
The draw means Newcastle have moved into fifth place in the Premier League, while Bournemouth are in 14th spot after picking up a point in both of their opening two games.
