Newcastle fans tear into Joelinton as 'shocking' footage emerges online

Newcastle United fans have raged at Joelinton after what he did in the second half of their draw against Bournemouth on Sunday (25 August).

The Brazilian was spotted grabbing his compatriot Neto around the neck and hauling the goalkeeper to the floor in injury time at the Vitality Stadium.

Joelinton was only given a yellow card for the incident despite the Bournemouth players and staff calling for him to receive his marching orders.

That came just moments after Dango Ouattara saw a goal ruled out for handball, with the officials deeming the ball had hit his arm before beating Nick Pope in the Newcastle goal.

The game ended 1-1 after Anthony Gordon’s strike on 76 minutes ruled out Marcus Tavernier’s opener for the hosts.

But the Newcastle fans were surprised to see Joelinton not receive a red card, with several of them suggesting it was a “shocking” foul on Neto.
