Everton have been busy so far in the summer transfer window and there is an expectation the next few weeks may be a bit quieter at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche has moved quickly to bolster his squad, but more importantly, the Blues boss has managed to keep his best and brightest talents on Merseyside despite plenty of summer transfer speculation.

The likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford won’t be going anywhere between now and the end of the transfer window, even if teams continue to be linked with their signature.

Another man whose future at Goodison now likely hangs in the balance is Youseff Chermiti after Dyche revealed that the striker had picked up an injury which will see him sidelined for an extended period.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (3 August) he said: “Youssef, unfortunately, is going to be a longer one. That one is a bit of a blow because he’s done great in pre-season and looked sharp.

“It’s going to be a bit longer I’m afraid to say. We’ll have to wait and see but it’s certainly not going to be a couple of weeks, it will be longer than that.”

Will Youseff Chermiti exit Everton amid transfer rumours?

Chermiti has had an excellent pre-season and could well have forced his way into the Blues’ starting XI this term, but this new injury blow may have a major impact on his future in several ways.

Reports had suggested the Toffees were ready to consider sending the Portuguese forward on loan this summer if they were able to sign more attacking options, so that he could play consistent first-team football [The Athletic, 12 July].

That won’t now happen however as no club is going to be interested in paying a loan fee and potentially a portion of Chermiti’s wages if he isn’t going to be available for an extended period of time.

Whether the Blues would have even let the 20-year-old depart given his impressive form in pre-season can be questioned, but this knock will have forced them into making a decision around his future.

Hopefully, he will be a regular fixture in Dyche’s side once he makes his way back to full fitness as it would be a massive shame if this injury majorly impacted his development.

In other Everton news, the Toffees can hijack a deal for a Wilfried Gnonto alternative after an update emerged around Yaser Aprilla
