Newcastle United fans are calling for the club to sign Raheem Sterling before 31 August after a new update on his future at Chelsea.

The Blues are now dealing with the issues caused by their seemingly never-ending recruitment under Todd Boehly as multiple players are likely to leave before the transfer deadline.

Enzo Maresca revealed that he is only working with 21 of his 42-man squad in preparation for the rest of the season as the transfer window edges closer to closing.

A further ten signings so far this summer have seen up to 20 players expelled from first-team training at Stamford Bridge, according to the boss.

One of those is Sterling, who was left out of the squad which lost 2-0 to Man City in their opening-day clash and now looks set to leave before 31 August.

The arrival of Pedro Neto from Wolves also saw the Englishman stripped of the number seven shirt, which seems to be the final nail in the coffin of his Chelsea career.

Now, Newcastle fans are insisting they should swoop in to complete a deal to sign the winger.

Sterling, still only 29, has 376 Premier League appearances to his name and would represent an experienced addition to Eddie Howe’s squad.

The boss is known to favour homegrown talent with previous experience in England, making the winger an ideal candidate for his team.

His winning experience is also viewed as a bonus for Newcastle’s ambitious project as he has lifted four Premier League titles, five League Cups and one FA Cup.

After the latest update on his Chelsea future, supporters have flocked to social media to demand the Magpies get a deal over the line before 31 August.
