Wenham expects Tottenham forward to be sold after pre-season developments

John Wenham expects Manor Solomon to be sold by Tottenham after the forward’s lack of involvement during pre-season.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that the 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order in North London.

Solomon was an unused substitute in pre-season matches against Team K League and Bayern Munich.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes a permanent transfer might be best for everybody involved.

“I expect Solomon to be moved on,” Wenham said.

“When I saw suggestions that he could leave earlier in the window I found it quite unusual. However, when he has played during pre-season, he has been underwhelming.

“Some people might suggest that is because he has been injured for such a long time. However, since the first three pre-season matches, Solomon hasn’t played any minutes at all in the last two games.

“That tells me he is quite far down the pecking order and therefore there might be a permanent departure. He also takes up one of the 17 non-homegrown spots.

“As a result, it might be in his and the club’s best interest to move him on.”

If Solomon does end up leaving before the transfer deadline, his stay with Spurs will go down as a rather unmemorable one.

After a positive start to the 2023/24 campaign, Solomon spent the majority of the season on the sidelines after suffering a long-term injury setback in October.

While he will no doubt still be keen to prove himself in North London that might prove tough due to the level of competition in forward areas.

Ange Postecoglou is unlikely to see him as a key member of the squad, which could open the door for a permanent departure.
