Rangers appear to have burned their bridges with Ianis Hagi and he does seem certain to leave the club this summer.

Despite the new season having already started and him training with the first team [Football Scotland], the club relegated him to the B Team on 5 August to take on Middlesbrough.

That all but shows that Philippe Clement no longer has faith in the 25-year-old Romania international and an exit seems certain this summer.

Hagi’s recent comments about asking his agent to look for options certainly would not have gone well with Clement either as it shows a lack of commitment to the cause.

Before Euro 2024, he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun: “My focus is on the Euros. I had talks with my agents and the pressure is on them.

“They know what I want for my future, it’s a pretty important summer for me from all points of view.

“I told them before going to the national team what I wanted, I expect them to work as well as possible, to find the right team and the right manager for me.

“I can’t say if I’ll be at Rangers or somewhere else. My future depends on my agents.”

Rangers and Ianis Hagi have seemingly burned all bridges

Selling Hagi could be a strategic move as his market value has significantly decreased, making it a crucial time to cash in on the player as he’s unlikely to be worth anything higher than what he is currently.

It would also free up funds to invest in new signings that fit better with the club’s current needs and Clement’s tactical approach.

Hagi’s form has been inconsistent, and he has struggled with injuries, which might affect his performance.

It would also benefit the player as he could play regularly and potentially regain his form under a new manager.

Whether or not the club succeed in selling him, remains to be seen, but it’s clear that they’re forcing him out.

In other Rangers news, the club’s board may now push to sign a striker that Philippe Clement does not admire.
