Newcastle United fans are raging at controversial broadcaster Richard Keys over his claim that the club will “never” join the elite teams in the Premier League.

Keys was discussing Newcastle’s future with other broadcasters when he claimed that the Magpies won’t be able to reach the highest level of football.

The north east giants have made an undefeated start to the new campaign and sit fifth as the division heads into the international break.

Newcastle defeated Tottenham 2-1 during their most recent outing on Sunday (1 September) courtesy of goals from Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak.

The Magpies boast the wealthiest owners in the Premier League with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund providing the club with plenty of financial power.

However, PSR and financial fair play has restricted Newcastle from having the spending power that they would like to have.

Newcastle United supporters claim Richard Keys has ‘an agenda’ against the club

The Magpies finished in seventh place last season, missing out on a Champions League spot by eight points.

However, Newcastle did finish above one of the classic ‘elite’ clubs in Man United.

Newcastle fans didn’t take Keys’ comments lightly and were quick to point out that the PSR and FFP rules are restricting them as a club.

Completely disagree.
