Nine Bundesliga players nominated for 2024 European Golden Boy Award
Bayern Munich pair Aleksandar Pavlović and Mathys Tel are joined by the likes of Borussia Dortmund duo Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Youssoufa Moukoko on the 2024 European Golden Boy Award shortlist.
After a breakout season for Bayern, which has resulted in a call-up to Germany's UEFA Euro 2024 squad, Pavlović (9th) has made the top-10 and is well in contention for the annual award that celebrates the best player under the age of 21 from Europe's top leagues, according to UEFA's coefficient rankings.
Just behind Pavlović is clubmate Mathys Tel (11th), with Dortmund's Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (16th) and Youssoufa Moukoko (23rd) ahead of Hugo Larsson (Eintracht Frankfurt - 35th) Max Finkgräfe (Cologne - 44th), Brajan Gruda (Mainz - 48th), Tim Drexler and Umut Tohumcu (both Hoffenheim - 86th and 96th).
Jude Bellingham won last year's award between moving from Dortmund to Real Madrid, while Mario Götze (2011), Renato Sanches (2016) and Erling Haaland (2020) were all named Europe's Golden Boy while plying their trade in the Bundesliga.
Since its inception in 2003, no team has produced more Golden Boy winners than Dortmund (three), with the award presented by the Italian sports newspaper “Tuttosport” and the victory chosen by a jury of experts.
