'No one can imagine' - Roma chief responds to Friedkin sale claims due to Everton takeover

Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi claims that the Friedkins are committed to the club despite the ongoing takeover at Everton.

Speaking to Il Romanista on 2 October, he stated that the Americans spend a lot of their time and money to help the Italian side thrive.

Josmiar’s Paul Brown shared the article with Ghisolfi’s quotes included amid fears of a Roma sale.

The Roma chief said: “The Friedkins have always been very clear: they want the best for Roma and they demonstrate it every day on an economic level and by spending a lot of personal energy.

“Winning is the objective, but we have to do it through all the things we listed before. As for Everton, nothing has changed: here no one can imagine how committed they are to the club and I am a witness to it.”

Everton fans should not be worried about The Friedkin Group at Roma

Ghisolfi’s reassurance regarding the Friedkins’ commitment to Roma, despite their interest in the Toffees, underscores a strategic approach in multi-club ownership.

The Friedkins, by ensuring Roma’s operations remain robust, are likely employing a model where each club operates autonomously.

This approach is common in modern football where owners recognise the impossibility of micromanaging multiple entities and appoint competent local leadership.

For Everton, this means the Friedkins will likely install a dedicated and capable management team which could see Kevin Thelwell being made redundant.

This strategy not only allows for focused attention on club-specific needs but also leverages the collective resources and expertise across their portfolio for mutual benefit, without diluting focus.

The two clubs could also exchange resources in terms of scouting, playing philosophies, etc. and it’s only going to benefit the Merseyside outfit.

In other Everton news, adversarial measures may be on the cards with regards to the takeover amid a £200million development.
