Everton may reignite transfer interest in Newcastle attacker set for January exit - report

Everton could be tempted to make a new move for Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron in January, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (2 October) that there is a good chance that the Paraguay international will exit St James’ Park in the new year, having been linked with the exit in the summer.

Almiron has garnered major interest from the MLS and the Saudi Pro League while also catching the attention of clubs both in Germany and France.

Sean Dyche’s side considered a move for the 30-year-old as a last-resort option during the summer transfer window but could be tempted to reignite their interest if the Friedkin Group’s takeover is completed by January.

Will Miguel Almiron exit Newcastle United amid Everton transfer rumours?

While Almiron is unlikely to be most fans’ priority signing in the first transfer window under the Friedkins, the Toffees could do worse than consider a January move for the Paraguyan if money is still tight at Goodison Park.

The 30-year-old isn’t perfect, but he does have experience in the Premier League and in the past, he has shown that he can consistently deliver in the final third at this level.

If the structure of the deal is right and not too expensive to pull off, it would make sense for the Blues to consider it. With profit and sustainability rules in place in the Premier League, Dyche won’t be able to spend millions even if new owners are in position on Merseyside.

Everton have acted shrewdly in previous windows to make sensible additions without breaking the bank and they will need to do the same again when the new year rolls around.

Whether or not that will include a deal for Almiron remains to be seen. New owners will have new ideas of their own so there is no guarantee that the Friedkin Group will even be willing to sanction this sort of transfer.
