Everton ace Iliman Ndiaye left Pat Nevin wowed as he easily skipped past Chelsea defender Axel Disasi in the first half of their Premier League game on Sunday.
The attacker has been in fine form for the Toffees this season and it seems like he’s back at his best for the game against Enzo Maresca’s men.
Thanks to the absence of Dwight McNeil due to injury, the Senegal international has been the creative point for the Merseyside outfit over the last couple of weeks and it feels likely that he’s going to be in the same situation again by the end of the clash on 22 December.
The scores currently sit at 0-0 with neither side able to find a breakthrough at Goodison Park just yet.
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live (22 December, 14:09pm), former Chelsea man Nevin shared his thoughts on the performance of the former Marseille man so far.
“You need to get Ndiaye one-on-one with Disasi in the wide area. It’s not fair, he just skipped past him. It’s not Disasi’s fault, he’s not a natural wide player,” he said.
Iliman Ndiaye has been one of the best players within the Everton squad v Chelsea
As aforementioned, due to the absence of McNeil, Ndiaye has been the player that Dyche has relied upon throughout the course of the first half.
A lot of the Toffees’ attacks have gone through the 24-year-old and to be quite frank, he’s been the most dangerous player on the pitch for Dyche despite the windy conditions the sides are facing at Goodison Park.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was once again chosen to lead Everton’s attacking line despite his poor form over the last few weeks.
And, although Dyche has started an unchanged starting XI against the Blues, with Youssef Chermiti getting his first nod on the bench this season, it feels like the 53-year-old could end up bringing on the Portuguese striker as something of a wildcard as the game goes on.
So far, the game has been fairly end-to-end but unfortunately for Dyche and his men, it feels like there’s only a matter of time until Chelsea break through their defensive line, especially since they’ve already had two ‘big chances’ and 73 per cent of the possession [Sofascore].
