Nottingham Forest fans savage 'hypocrite' Gary Neville after new claim

Nottingham Forest fans have torn into Gary Neville after his latest comments surrounding the Premier League and profit and sustainability rules.

The former Man United star insisted the PSR rules are no longer fit for purpose and called for changes to be made within the next 12 months.

He explained that clubs are being forced into selling their best players to avoid financial punishments – something PSR was not designed to do.

However, Forest fans called back to Neville’s less sympathetic comments after they were handed a two-point deduction for financial breaches last season.

Despite his recent comments falling in line with what fans have been saying for nearly a year, fans are insisting he has only spoken out now that United are affected.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Main Event (1 September), Neville ranted: “I think that was the most bizarre transfer window.

“I think PSR now is starting to be applied by the Premier League, and that’s why we’re seeing a lot of clubs, including Manchester United, having to navigate around selling players that maybe they wouldn’t want to.

“PSR was never designed so that clubs had to sell their best academy players. That’s what we’re seeing, so something needs to change dramatically in the next 12 months.“

United faced their own PSR struggle this summer and were forced to cash in on Scott McTominay in the late stages to help balance the books.

However, Forest fans have previously highlighted that the Red Devils were afforded an extra allowance by the Premier League to help them avoid any punishment.

After Neville spoke out on the subject, fans have flocked to social media to question why he is only speaking now that it affects his club, given his previous stance towards Forest.
