Ally McCoist has been put forward as a potential replacement for Philippe Clement as Rangers boss after the latest loss to Aberdeen, by Alan Brazil.
The talkSPORT host and frequent colleague of the Gers legend asked Gabby Agbonlahor live on the station on 31 October if McCoist would take the job if offered and sacrifice his many punditry roles, but the ex-Aston Villa forward doubted the chances.
Clement, 50, is under major pressure after losing 2-1 at Pittodrie the previous night to leave his side languishing in third, nine points adrift of the Dons and Celtic, after just 10 games.
Brazil asked: “Do you think that Ally would take the Rangers job if he was offered it and give up all this other stuff that he’s doing, his other 22 jobs?”
Agbonlahor replied: “I don’t think he would. But, do they need someone like Ally to go in there and give them a kick?”
Brazil added: “Well he’s alive and kicking isn’t he?”

It isn’t yet clear whether the Ibrox board are sufficiently concerned with the direction of travel under Clement to get rid of him, as it isn’t expected to happen imminently [Rangers Review, 31 October].
But if they do it looks like a job that is beyond the Light Blues’ record scorer, who has been out of management since he left the club nearly a decade ago.
McCoist resigned in December 2014 while in the Scottish Championship, having shepherded the club up from the fourth tier after liquidation, and it seems hugely unlikely that a Rangers side beset by issues on and off the pitch is something he would want to walk back into again.
In light of the financial situation there are doubts over whether a managerial change is something the club can even contemplate.
Getting rid of Clement is thought likely to be more affordable than might have been expected for a coach who got an extension in the summer, thanks to potential clauses attached to the new deal [PLZ Soccer, 21 October].
But bringing a replacement in would be tricky, especially if they are currently in charge elsewhere as with suggestions already that Kilmarnock’s Derek McInnes would be in the running if a change is made [PLZ Soccer, 21 October].
McCoist is technically available but it is hard to see a second stint as Ibrox boss as being the answer for him or for the club.
In other Rangers news, Ianis Hagi is expected to leave the club soon despite making his breakthrough return.
