Southampton are without Gavin Bazunu for their trip to Everton while Russell Martin has revealed a sickness bug has hit their camp.

The Saints welcome the Toffees to St Mary’s on Saturday 2 November and they are set to definitely have one player out.

The Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper is continuing his recovery from a long-term Achilles problem.

There could be other absentees after a virus hit the Southampton camp which Martin has revealed, via the Liverpool Echo (31 October) has affected the likes of Flynn Downes, Ryan Fraser, Jack Stephens and Adam Armstrong,

Ahead of the Everton clash, the manager said: “I do expect by Friday or hopefully Thursday, we’ll have everyone back training and feeling okay.”

The Toffees will be hopeful of extending their gap away from the Premier League relegation places as they travel to the coast.

Sean Dyche’s side have gone five matches unbeaten in the league which has seen his side rise to 16th, five points off Ipswich Town in 18th.

The chance to extend that gap against a side who are yet to win a single league game this season since promotion is one Everton have to take.

Their chances may have been handed a boost with the news of a sickness bug in the Southampton camp which could see some key players ruled out for Martin.

With that being said, there are still some quality players in the Saints’ side who can cause the Toffees problems, shown by going away to Manchester City and only losing 1-0.

Even with injury and illness playing its role, Dyche’s side must be alert and on top form to take something away from St Mary’s.
