‘Ongoing talks’: Everton are in discussions to sign £30m attacker likened to Ronaldo
Excuse me? ????
Everton have had quite an unusual summer, with the Toffees’ losing a key player in Amadou Onana with no replacement seemingly lined up.
Having already signed the likes of Jesper Lindstrom, Jake O’Brien and Iliman Ndiaye, Sean Dyche is still focused on making more attacking signings, with Everton interested in recruiting Ramon Sosa from Paraguayan club Talleres.
With Everton already failing to sign Savinho earlier this summer, it’s clear that the Goodison Park side are intent on adding to their forward ranks in the final two weeks of the transfer window, where the Merseyside club will want to avoid another relegation battle.
And Everton have now made an ambitious move to sign an FC Barcelona forward.
Everton in talks to sign Barcelona wonderkid Vitor Roque
According to Florian Plettenberg, Everton have opened discussions to sign Barcelona youngster Vitor Roque, with the European giants demanding as much as €35m (£30m) for the Brazilian striker.
Plettenberg wrote: “FC Everton continuing to explore deal to sign Vitor Roque with a first offer of €25m + €3m add-ons. Immediately rejected by Barcelona as they want €30-35m. Understand that Everton are in ongoing talks with Deco. 19 y/o striker from Barca with a contract until 2031.”
With former Athletico Paranaense director Alexandre Mattos comparing Roque to the Brazilian Ronaldo as per FCBN, Everton would be landing quite the prospect if the Toffees can reach an agreement with Barcelona for the striker.
However, with Roque struggling big time to adapt to life in La Liga having joined in January, there’s a real chance that the Brazilian could face a similar problem in the Premier League with Everton if things don’t go to plan.
Everton are taking a big risk in chasing Roque
Roque is without question a top talent who could develop into one of the best attackers in world football if he can get his next career move spot on, and Everton are taking a big risk in moving for the striker.
As we know, the Merseyside giants have had an unlucky run of sorts in recent windows when it comes to signing attackers, with Roque arguably the most exciting name Everton have been linked with in quite some time.
And if the Brazilian moves to Goodison Park, Everton will be under an immense amount of pressure to get the best out of Roque, who will want to flourish in the Premier League having faltered at Barcelona.
