Newcastle could look to sell Alexander Isak and use the money to sign a world-class replacement, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the club’s concerns surrounding profit and sustainability rules could see them cash in on the 25-year-old to raise funds.
Meanwhile, the Magpies have shown an initial interest in Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, although their financial concerns are thought to be prohibitive to any deal.
Despite those concerns, it is said that Isak’s potential sale would allow them to reinvest the money in bringing in a world-class replacement in the summer transfer window.
Uncertainty around Isak’s future has grown recently after Football Insider revealed that he could quit the club if they fail to match his ambitions.
As a result, there have been suggestions that Newcastle may be best served by selling him at a high price both to help with their PSR concerns and leave room for reinvestment.

Since his move to the Premier League in 2022, Isak has become one of the most highly regarded and sought after strikers in Europe.
He has added to last season’s 25-goal tally with five goals and two assists in 11 appearances so far this season, and has scored in each of his last four league games.
That form has attracted interest from some of Europe’s elite sides who are said to be keeping a close eye on his situation at St James’ Park.
The Gunners are looking to sign a superstar forward to strengthen their title bid, with Isak emerging near the top of their list of targets.
Talks over a potential new deal for the striker have delayed amid questions about his future, and there is a growing feeling that his sale could become a possibility in the summer of 2025.
