Liverpool feel they have a ready-made replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold in Conor Bradley amid speculation over his future.
This is according to former Man United, West Ham and Bolton Wanderers scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 21-year-old could “make the position his own”.
Brown previously told Football Insider that the Alexander-Arnold has already decided he wants to leave Anfield in a move to Real Madrid.
With less than a year remaining on his contract, he will be able to negotiate terms over a pre-contract deal from January ahead of a permanent move in the summer.
Liverpool have been key to commit the right-back to a contract extension, but have now begun assessing potential alternatives should he make the move away.
Bradley has emerged as an outstanding candidate for the position after his performances when filling in during his teammate’s recent absences through injury.
Last season, he made 23 appearances across all competitions and established himself as a reliable backup under the management of Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool view Connor Bradley as their ready-made Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement
It is said he will need to prove himself once more in Slot’s system, but is viewed as a potential ready-made replacement in Alexander-Arnold’s position.
Brown, who spent over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, recalled watching Bradley during his time on loan at Bolton as he insisted that his improvement since returning to Anfield has made him a realistic option for the starting XI.
“I saw a lot of Bradley when he was at Bolton,” he told Football Insider.
“They played him very high up the pitch, he was a wing-back but almost playing as a winger.
“I kept thinking I want to see him tested in defence, I want to know how good he really is.
“Since he’s gone back to Liverpool, he’s certainly shown that.
“It surprised me, if I’m honest, how well he adapted to the step up.
“He’s done so well that I’ve heard they view him as a ready-made replacement for Alexander-Arnold.
“I don’t think they’d lose too much if he was the one to step in if Trent does move to Real Madrid, he’s perfectly capable of replacing him.
“He’ll have to adapt again and get used to Slot’s system, but he’s shown he’s capable of playing in different roles and I’d back him to make that position his own.”
In other news, Liverpool are desperate to agree terms with Andy Robertson.
