Tam McManus has slammed Rangers for their statement on Tuesday morning with regards to the officiating in Scottish games.
Gers confirmed on 24 December that they contacted the SFA to express concerns as the two VAR officials who made a huge mistake in the Scottish League Cup final against Celtic have quickly been reinstated.
To make things worse, one of those officials has been assigned to a Hoops game in the SPFL in the coming days.
McManus took to X to write: “This will get the Rangers fans still out for blood onside but it’s poor for me. Heaping serious pressure on officials who in my opinion made an honest mistake. Let them get on with their job not be banished to Siberia or sacked. I await the ‘but it’s ok for Celtic to do it’.”
Rangers make the right call by putting their foot down
Clubs like Gers have a legitimate reason to voice their concerns publicly when such mistakes occur, especially when they have significant impacts like potentially costing teams trophies or leading to managerial dismissals.
The inconsistency in refereeing decisions has been a persistent issue, undermining the integrity of the sport and affecting the competitive balance.
By making strong statements, clubs not only seek to address these injustices but also push for accountability and improvement in officiating standards.
Rangers’ action in contacting the SFA and expressing their dissatisfaction is a necessary step towards ensuring that errors are acknowledged and steps are taken to prevent future occurrences.
This isn’t about pressuring officials but about advocating for fairness and transparency which even McManus would want.
Hopefully, by doing so, Gers have sent a message that things cannot continue as they are and that the SFA must take quick action to bring about the desired changes.
In other Rangers news, the executives of a Manchester-based company valued at nearly £1billion have made their decision on the Ibrox outfit.
