Liverpool made it four Champions League wins in a row on Tuesday night as they ran out 4-0 winners over Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield.
The Reds delivered arguably the best performance of the Arne Slot era to date as they made light work of Xabi Alonso’s charges.
Luis Diaz scored a hat-trick for Liverpool and Cody Gakpo also got on the scoresheet, while Mohamed Salah notched up two assists on the night.
A number of German media outlets praised what one of the Reds players – other than the hat-trick hero – did on the night.

Liverpool ace Curtis Jones praised by German media
The player in question is Curtis Jones, who helped Liverpool break the deadlock with a superb through-ball for Diaz to chip home.
Sebastian Bergmann of the Rheinische Post wrote: “Luis Diaz crowned the Reds’ phase of pressure with a lob to make it 1-0 (61′) after an outstanding pass from Jones.”
Meanwhile, Die Welt noted just how devastating Jones’ through-ball was, writing: “After a pass from Curtis Jones, the entire defence was outmaneuvered and Diaz was free to go through, and the Colombian coolly slotted home.
Curtis Jones likened to Cole Palmer
Liverpool legend Phil Thompson compared Jones’ superb pass to Cole Palmer’s assist for Chelsea against Newcastle United last week.
He said on the Official Liverpool podcast: “What a moment, like we said about Cole Palmer’s a couple of games ago didn’t we?
“Seeing who was it against – Newcastle? And this is one of those moments, it took something like that. I think it was great, wasn’t it, the second half.
“We do have a problem, probably come back to it, of what is happening in our first halves. But the second half was just electric. We had the fireworks before, and we had the fireworks in the second half, because it was completely different.
“And if you watch and you look at the stats, the stats just all build up in the second half. And it was, it was truly fantastic. But that was one moment which changed the course of the game.”
What next for Liverpool?
Liverpool are next in action on Saturday night as they host Aston Villa in an 8pm Premier League kick-off.
The Reds’ next Champions League match is on Wednesday 27 November as they take on Real Madrid at Anfield.
