Pep Guardiola likely to quit Man City after 'huge' offer news - Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Man City boss Pep Guardiola would be tempted by the “hugely attractive” Brazil job.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the Spaniard can “write his own future” and may even want some time off after leaving City.

The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, has been forced to deny that he has contacted Guardiola about managing the national team after recent speculation suggested he had been offered the job.

City’s legendary boss is currently out of contract at the end of the season but insisted last month that he is yet to make a decision on his future.

Guardiola is set to lose a major ally at the Etihad Stadium in sporting director Txiki Begiristain, who has confirmed his exit at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Wyness claimed his “gut feeling” is that the “irritable” City boss will leave.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Only Pep can decide on this.

“He can do whatever he wants. He’s done his time at City, they should be very grateful.

“If he stays another season they will be very happy, but I’ve always felt in my gut that he is looking to get away. That’s my gut feeling. It looks like he’s irritable and there’s something up.

“Brazil, it would be hugely attractive. It’s an attractive position, but he could go wherever he wants to.

“He’s still relatively young and he can write his own future. He may want some time off.

“City should be very grateful. He’s left a fantastic foundation.

“He may decide his work isn’t finished there. They’ve had a tricky run recently, and he may not want to go.

“Pep will want to go at the top. It’s going to be a fascinating watch.”
