Robin Propper has arrived in the UK to undergo a medical with Rangers and could be available for the weekend’s season opener against Hearts, according to Chris Jack.
Rangers Review’s Jack posted on X [31 July] to report the Dutchman has travelled to Glasgow to complete a move from FC Twente.
The medical for the defender was reported earlier on Wednesday to be close via Barry Anderson [31 July], and now the hope for Philippe Clement is that Propper could even be available for this weekend’s season opener at Tynecastle against Hearts.
Propper is set to become the sixth senior signing at Ibrox so far in the transfer window, and Jack claimed in his post: “Robin Propper has arrived in the UK to undergo his medical ahead of his move to Rangers.
“Deal expected to be confirmed in the coming days and he could be available for Tynecastle on Saturday.”
Rangers hope Propper can debut v Hearts
If all goes to plan for Propper and Rangers, the 30-year-old could make his debut in Clement’s backline in Edinburgh on Saturday lunchtime.
A major squad rebuild has been the primary objective for the club, led by Nils Koppen, over the summer in order to bridge the gap to Celtic.
Whilst recruitment is gradually being completed block by block, Gers fans remain unconvinced by the club’s list of incomings so far having lost numerous experienced players.
However, the kitty appears to be deeply reached into, with a reported fee of up to £2.7m being paid [Daily Record, 31 July] by the Light Blues to the Eredivisie side.
With all but two of the club’s signings aged 22 or under to date, the requirement to replace the outgoing Connor Goldson with a like-for-like player with pedigree was paramount at whatever cost.
In other Rangers news, Derek Ferguson thinks the club are getting desperate for striker options.
