Everton are the “favourite destination” of Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist posted on X with an update (24 June) to say that Minteh has informed Newcastle that he would prefer to complete a transfer to Goodison Park, rather than Ligue 1 side Lyon.

Minteh is yet to feature in a first-team game for the Magpies but did have a highly successful spell on loan at Feyenoord last season, scoring 10 goals in 27 Eredivisie appearances.

With a summer transfer looking likely though, it appears Minteh’s sights are still firmly set on making a breakthrough in the Premier League, and he will shun Lyon in order to sign for the Toffees.

Yankuba Minteh transfer would give Everton rare options out wide

The arrival of Minteh at Goodison Park could prove to be a game-changer for Sean Dyche’s side next season, having scored at a greater rate of knots than multiple Toffees players combined last season.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin reportedly on the verge of heading the other way to Newcastle, Minteh provides a brand new outlet that could result in fundamental changes for Dyche to make up front [TEAMtalk].

Dwight McNeil remains the club’s only out-and-out wide player following the loan returns of Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma, and thus Minteh brings an x-factor previously lacking in this Toffees side.

Harrison looks set to be heading back to Goodison Park to join Minteh in the ranks, and having previously overseen a squad depleted in attacking prowess, it appears Dyche will have several attacking options at his disposal next season [Fabrizio Romano].

Minteh giving Everton the green light despite the club’s financial problems in recent months is a huge vote of confidence for the Blues, and the ball is now in their court to get this transfer over the line [Gianluca Di Marzio].

In other Everton news, a “fearless” player the Toffees have been linked with is now searching for a house in Liverpool.
