'Pointless' - Henry Winter backs Farhad Moshiri to make Sean Dyche sack decision at Everton

Henry Winter has told Farhad Moshiri it is “pointless” for him to sack Sean Dyche, suggesting he will leave it to the next Everton owner.

The Toffees boss has come under increasing pressure from supporters and pundits alike after the Blues’ winless start to the Premier League season and Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Southampton.

Reports suggest that Dyche continues to have the backing of the Blues’ board [Sky Sports, 13 September] and former Times journalist Winter has suggested there would be little logic in sacking him now.

Writing on his substack page (20 September) Winter said: “Sean of the dead man walking?

“Many Everton fans have turned, Dyche’s tactics and substitutions are being questioned, and an experienced, committed manager cannot afford another surrender, this time at Leicester City on Saturday.

“Otherwise all the jokes about Dyche living in “a two-up, three down” house really won’t be a laughing matter any longer. But the logic or likelihood of dismissing Dyche needs proper scrutiny.

“It is pointless Everton making any definitive call on Dyche’s future until the future of the club’s ownership itself is sorted out. And why would Farhad Moshiri commit to a substantial pay-off to a manager when he himself is on the way out?

“Leave it to the next man.”

Will Farhad Moshiri sack Sean Dyche at Everton after Goodison Park updates?

Moshiri appears to be on his way out of Goodison Park and while Everton fans won’t be excited until the finishing touches are placed on any deal, it does feel as though things are heading in the right direction.

The current Blues owner doesn’t have the money to make any big changes on Merseyside and while he could likely find a way to pay off Dyche, he won’t be in a rush to throw any more money at this project unnecessarily.

Whether or not the former Burnley boss will be able to survive under a new owner remains to be seen, but as far as Moshiri is considered, that isn’t his problem and therefore he doesn’t have to worry about it.

Unless Dyche walks or a prospective takeover at Goodison Park is thrown into doubt once again, it would be a surprise to see a change in the dugout while the current ownership remains in charge.

Stranger things have happened on the blue half of Merseyside, but Dyche’s sacking would certainly come as a shock.

In other Everton news, Moshiri has been backed to “take what he is given” for the Toffees after a new takeover update emerged
