Alan Myers issues Textor-Friedkin partnership verdict to seal Everton takeover

Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers claims that while it’s possible, it is unlikely that John Textor and Dan Friedkin will form a partnership to buy Everton.

Myers responded to a question asked by a Toffees fan on X after Keith Wyness floated the idea of the duo working in tandem.

This came after Friedkin returned to the fold for the Toffees takeover after pulling the plug on the deal some weeks ago. [Bloomberg]

It’s understood that no bid has yet been tabled by the American billionaire.

Via X, Myers wrote: “Maybe they could, I just don’t think they will.”

John Textor and Dan Friedkin are unlikely to team up for the Everton takeover

The proposition of Textor and Friedkin forming a partnership to buy the club is deemed unlikely due to their individual investment interests and strategies.

Textor, with his shares in Crystal Palace currently up for sale and Friedkin, who has previously engaged with Everton but pulled back, have both shown patterns of independent operation in their investments.

Their business models might not align for a collaborative bid, especially given Friedkin’s recent hesitation with the Goodison Park outfit.

Moreover, the complexity of aligning two high-profile investors’ visions, resources and timing, especially amidst the club’s urgent need for stable ownership, adds layers of difficulty.

The Goodison Park faithful, eager for resolution after prolonged uncertainty, would hope for swift progress from any potential buyer, understanding that prolonged ownership transitions could further destabilise the club’s financial and sporting prospects.

It remains to be seen how things transpire as even periods of exclusivity can be false dawns as has been the case on several occasions.

In other Everton, a source close to Dan Friedkin has issued an update on the Toffees takeover after a recent twist.
