Tottenham have turned their attention towards Fabio Paratici ahead of the January transfer window, according to Alex Crook.
The journalist reported via his talkSPORT transfer notebook on 30 December that the former Spurs sporting director’s presence in North London for the 2-2 draw with Wolves on Sunday (29 December) was no coincidence.
Although Paratici was forced to step down from his role at Tottenham in March 2023 after receiving a 30-month ban from FIFA, Daniel Levy has continued to take advise from him and will turn to him again over new signings in January as Ange Postecoglou grows “desperate” for reinforcements.
The former Juventus sporting director has already identified Torino’s Samuel Ricci as a potential target for Postecoglou’s side.
Fabio Paratici back in fray at Tottenham ahead of January transfer window
Destiny Udogie has joined the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero on the treatment table and it is easy to see why Postecoglou is really keen to bolster his ranks when the window opens this week.
It is probable that the Greek-Australian tactician held talks with Levy and Paratici over new signings for the second half of the season.
Paratici has strong contacts in Italian football and it would not be a surprise if Levy tapped into them as he looks to give Postecoglou the tools he needs.
The Italian transfer guru remains banned from football, but that has not prevented him from acting as an advisor to the North London giants.
With Paratici attending Spurs’ last game before the window opens, it remains to be seen how he will influence transfers in January.
With four players out, defence is one position Tottenham are likely to strengthen. They could also consider signing a new goalkeeper as Fraser Forster is not comfortable with the ball at his feet.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs could already have a replacement lined up after a new injury setback.
