Pundit backs Levy to accept offer for exit-linked Tottenham star Ange wants to keep

Ange Postecoglou is keen to keep Richarlison at Tottenham but Daniel Levy would be ready to sanction his sale for £60million, according to Alan Hutton.

The Brazilian forward has been linked with a move away from North London throughout the summer, with reports suggesting clubs in the Saudi Pro League are keen to secure his services [talkSPORT, 12 May].

Richarlison has insisted that he wants to remain in the Premier League beyond the end of August, but his future has been thrown into doubt again after the Lilywhites confirmed the signing of Dominic Solanke.

Although Hutton believes the Englishman will become Postecoglou’s first-choice number nine this season, he thinks that the Brazilian international still has more to offer in a Tottenham shirt.

“If they can get a big fee in, I think the club will accept it,” Hutton exclusively told Tottenham News.

“We’re talking £60million, whether it be from Saudi or another Premier League team, although I don’t think a Premier League team would pay £60million right now.

“If they get a fee that Daniel Levy thinks meets his valuation of the player, he could possibly go.

From the manager’s point of view, I think he would be quite happy keeping Richarlison because he gives you another option.

“I think Solanke will be your main number nine, your main target. I think he’ll score the goals that they need to try and get back into the top four.

“Then you’ve got Richarlison who can play out wide as well and in that striker position because the manager wants as many options as possible.

“I think it will all come down to whether there will be a bid big enough for Daniel Levy to consider.”

Will Richarlison exit Tottenham ahead of the August transfer deadline?

As Hutton suggests, Postecoglou will be eager to have plenty of attacking options at his disposal this summer, particularly with European football to contend with this season.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and manager Ange Postecoglou
Daniel Levy hired Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham manager in the summer of 2023.

Richarlison may not be perfect, but his versatility means that he can offer cover for several players should the Lilywhites pick up any injuries at the top end of the pitch over the course of the campaign.

However, his own fitness record means that from a business perspective, it would be naive of Levy to reject a substantial offer for his services should it arrive before the transfer window slams shut.

Hopefully, a solution can be found that pleases Postecoglou and Levy in the long run, as Spurs cannot afford for the pair to clash over transfers as other managers have in the past.
