James Tavernier has been mooted as an option to replace Philippe Clement as Rangers manager by a caller on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.
Clement is under immense pressure at Ibrox after the Light Blues fell nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership title race.
One Gers fan, Jamie, thinks Tavernier would make a great replacement for the Belgian tactician, having been at the club for nine years.
“Honestly, I think Tav, he’s a Rangers man, he knows the club, he’s been there through thick and thin. I think he’d do a great job”, he said on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard [21 November, 7:32 pm].
Gordon Dalziel, though, was having none of it and shot down the suggestion immediately, saying: “There’s no point answering that, Tavernier is not going to be the next Rangers manager.
“Imagine him picking the team and losing his first game, no. Move on, move on.”

Presenter Gordon Duncan, meanwhile, dismissed the claim as a “wind-up” and he is not wrong.
While there is a genuine argument to be made about Clement being sacked, it is hard to imagine Tavernier taking the reins at Ibrox.
There is no doubt about the right-back’s quality as a player even though he has struggled for form this season and his commitment to the Ibrox club is also admirable.
However, tipping the Englishman to replace Clement as the Gers manager must be one of the most bizarre claims made about the Ibrox outfit in recent times.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if Clement can turn things around at Rangers.
The Light Blues are reluctant to pull the plug on him as they still do not have a permanent chairman and a CEO, according to Ludo Vandewalle of Het Nieuwsblad.
Some fans may have been thrilled after it emerged that the 50-year-old is under consideration to replace Domenico Tedesco as the Belgium coach.
However, that remains unlikely for now as the Red Devils are not in a position to be able to pay the Scottish giants to sign the manager.
In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson has hit out at Michael Beale for what he has now said about his time as Gers manager.
