Chris Sutton: Rangers to be attacked at Celtic AGM as 'Fireworks' verdict made

Chris Sutton expects attacks to be launched at Rangers at the Celtic AGM with a lot of people praising each other for the current season.

The former Hoops forward does not expect too many fireworks behind the scenes as things have relatively gone per plan in this campaign.

This comes after they find themselves sitting in top spot on the SPFL table and also doing well in the Champions League.

He told the Daily Record on 21 November: “Celtic supporters and shareholders can expect to get a full house on the AGM bingo card on Friday.

“There is unlikely to be many fireworks with the team top of the league, in the Premier Sports Cup Final and doing well in the Champions League – and that’s before they get to the fact they have got plenty of money in the bank. So it’s probably going to be more of the same faces, hitting the same notes.

“There will be some back-slapping over how well things have gone, there will be some barbs aimed at Rangers and someone will stand up and moan about the pies being cold.”

Rangers need to learn a thing or two from Celtic despite their current obsession

The obsession Celtic fans and potentially the board have with Gers is evident even during their current successful season.

Despite Celtic sitting atop the SPFL table and performing well in the Champions League, the anticipation of barbs aimed at Rangers at their AGM highlights this fixation.

It underscores a cultural rivalry where success is often measured not just by one’s achievements but by outperforming their Glasgow rivals.

However, this situation also serves as a wake-up call for the decision makers at Ibrox.

The fact that Celtic can afford to mock them while being successful points to a perception of Gers as somewhat of a laughing stock in the current football landscape.

For those in the blue half of Glasgow, this should be a moment of introspection, emphasising the need for strategic improvements and perhaps a shift in focus towards bettering their own game rather than being the subject of taunts.

In other Rangers news, it has been confirmed that an Ibrox-linked player will be leaving his club at the right price.
