Pundit shares Troy Parrott prediction ahead of Tottenham reunion v AZ Alkmaar

Paul Robinson believes Troy Parrott could get on the scoresheet as Tottenham face AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday (24 October).

Following a superb loan spell at Excelsior last season, scoring 17 goals in 32 appearances, the 22-year-old striker left Spurs and joined AZ Alkmaar permanently for £6.7million [BBC Sport].

With the Dutch side travelling to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Parrott has a chance to build upon his five goals in nine league appearances so far this term with a homecoming against his former team.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “I don’t think he’ll feel he has something to prove. He’s doing well in the league this year, scoring five goals in nine league games for AZ Alkmaar.

“I think he’ll be looking forward to coming back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, knowing his team are big underdogs, but with how susceptible the Spurs defence can be, I think it’ll be an open game.

“I wouldn’t bet against him scoring. Both teams are likely to score, and Troy Parrott might pop up with a goal somewhere and get a round of applause from the home crowd if they are three or four goals up.”

While AZ Alkmaar are only fifth in the Eredivisie, below the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Utrecht, Ajax and Feyenoord, Dutch side FC Twente have already shown their ability to compete against a Premier League team.

FC Twente drew 1-1 with Manchester United in the Europa League earlier this season, so Spurs fans will be hoping to avoid a similar embarrassment at home against their opposition.
