Tam McManus has slammed Todd Cantwell after sharing footage of him in training and understands why Rangers fans turned against him.

The 26-year-old completed a Deadline Day deal away from Ibrox to join Championship Blackburn Rovers for £500k [Sky Sports Scotland].

The former Gers star has since shared a video of him scoring an acrobatic goal in training for his new side.

In response, former Hibernian and Dundee forward McManus replied via X on 7 September, slamming Cantwell for posting the footage.

He said: “I genuinely get how the Rangers fans really turned on this guy. Probably everything that is wrong with modern football is in this one clip.

“Posting goals in training you might get away with down South but at a big club like Rangers what the fans want is for you to do your talking on the pitch. Not for likes on social media.”

The attacking midfielder refused to play for the Light Blues to begin the season so a move away in the transfer window was always on the cards.

This came to fruition on Deadline Day with the Englishman joining the Championship side on a permanent deal.

Given that he had refused to play, there was no love lost from the Gers fans once his departure to Blackburn had been confirmed.

This training footage almost sums up what went wrong in his time at Ibrox given the reaction that has been shared.

Sharing a video of yourself scoring a goal in training seems to be a bit self-indulgent, although it has to be said it is a special and unique strike.

Given that the former Norwich City man has moved on from the Gers, supporters aren’t going to be annoyed by this social media post.

It was a bizarre end to his spell at Ibrox but a move away appeared to make sense for all parties.
