'Question marks' - Stevie Clifford makes new Hagi admission after Rangers U-turn

Stevie Clifford admits there are still “question marks” around Ianis Hagi’s professionalism, despite new developments at Rangers.

Having been banished from the Gers squad the Romanian international is understood to have been reintegrated into Philippe Clement’s first team ahead of the clash with Lyon [Joshua Barrie, 1 October].

While most supporters and fans are happy to see the attacking midfielder back in the fold, Four Lads host Clifford insists Hagi still has a lot of convincing to do both off and on the pitch.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (2 October) he said: “Somebody spoke about his professionalism in the B Team.

“Yes, that’s absolutely correct, but was he behaving professionally during the summer? I’m not sure so there are still question marks for me over Ianis Hagi and there were question marks the summer before when Michael Beale put him out.

“He’s got a wee bit to go before he convinces me that he is the answer.”

What has happened to Rangers star Ianis Hagi at Ibrox?

While it is excellent to see Hagi back in the fold at Rangers, you do have to wonder what has changed in the last few weeks to make Clement go back on his decision to exile the attacking midfielder in pre-season.

Yes, the Light Blues do have a lack of depth in attacking midfield and on the face of it, Hagi is a solution to that problem, but only a matter of weeks ago he was deemed not good enough to even be in contention for that number 10 position.

Hopefully, the Romanian international will be back to his best when he is finally given a run out in the first team, but he is going to have to hit the ground running if he wants to win over certain sections of the Gers fanbase.

Ultimately, supporters want to see Clement’s side do well and if Hagi can help, he will be popular. It is now just down to him to show that he can deliver again in a Light Blue shirt on a regular basis.

In other Rangers news, one pundit has suggested that Clement will be unhappy behind closed doors after the win over Hibernian
