Rangers and Celtic now in race to sign in-demand Liverpool player - report

Rangers and Celtic are among a host of clubs including Leeds United, Norwich City and RB Salzburg in the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark, according to Paul Gorst.

The Liverpool Echo journalist claimed on 8 August that 19-year-old Englishman is in demand this summer.

Clark made his professional debut for the Reds back in 2022 and even featured in the EFL Cup final win against Chelsea last season.

Gorst told Anfield Index: “Celtic and Rangers are in the mix and obviously Salzburg, too. Almost half of the Championship are interested too, Leeds United, Norwich City, Derby County.”

Bobby Clark would be a solid signing for Rangers

Clark would be a solid signing for Gers due to his potential and versatility.

The 19-year-old Englishman has already made his professional debut for Liverpool and has shown glimpses of his talent.

His ability to play in multiple positions in midfield could provide Philippe Clement’s side with valuable depth and flexibility.

Beating Celtic to Clark’s signing would be special as it would demonstrate the Ibrox outfit’s ability to compete with their rivals in the transfer market.

The Hoops have been dominant in Scottish football in recent years, and securing a promising young talent like Clark would be a statement of intent from Rangers.

Clark has already shown that he can perform at a high level, and under the right guidance, he could become a star in the future at Ibrox.

It remains to be seen if Gers can successfully secure the services of the 19-year-old midfielder.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement’s number one priority has been revealed as more transfers are eyed ahead of the 30 August transfer deadline.
