Rangers could make up to 12 new signings this summer as Philippe Clement looks to overhaul the squad.

The Gers are set for a significant squad reshuffle in their first summer window under the Belgian boss, with sweeping changes expected.

And journalist Chris Jack expects the number of incomings to rise into double figures before the end of the transfer window.

Speaking to Rangers Review (11 June), he said: “Don’t be too disheartened [or] worried about the profile of the signings that have been made so far. I think we will see more experience put into the squad. I think we’ll also see more leadership put into the squad, and that is something that the manager and the recruitment team are certainly looking at.

“It is something that Rangers will look to do, but you have to remember, they’re looking at – potentially – 10, 12 signings over the course of the window. It’s a big rebuild.”

How much work does the Rangers squad need?

Rangers largely performed well under Clement but a stuttering end to the campaign – coupled with a poor record in the Old Firm derbies – saw the Gers miss out on both the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup, though they did claim the Scottish League Cup.

Five players are exit-bound following the expiry of their contracts – Jon McLaughlin, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe.

There are also doubts over the futures of several other first team stars, which could result in a dramatic squad turnover in just one window – Clement and Nils Koppen could oversee the recruitment of the best part of a new squad and Rangers could be nigh unrecognisable in terms of personnel by the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

With so much upheaval to manage, ensuring the right profile of player is recruited is imperative if Rangers are to wrest the league crown from Celtic next season.

In other Rangers news, five young Gers players were mentioned in a scout update.
