Rangers could sign Nadim Bajrami remotely in the final hours of the summer transfer window, according to Mark Benstead.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via Sky Sports News (30 August, 21:47) that the Sassuolo attacking midfielder is not expected to arrive in Glasgow and therefore could sign his Gers contract away from Ibrox.

Bajrami will arrive in Scotland at a later date but is still expected to become the latest addition to Philippe Clement’s squad when he signs a four-year deal in a transfer worth a reported £3.5million [Chris Jack, 30 August

Speaking on Sky Sports News Benstead said: “If it does happen and there’s a good chance it will happen, I’m not expecting to see the Albanian international here in Glasgow tonight.

“It will be done remotely and he will arrive in Scotland at a later date.”

Are Rangers close to any new signings ahead of the transfer deadline?

While this is an unusual method of completing transfers, it may be the only way that Rangers can ensure that Bajrami’s deal will be completed before the transfer window slams shut late on Friday night.

Time is running out for Clement and Nils Koppen to make additions to their squad for the first half of the season and they will be happy to get any new additions over the line by any means necessary, even if they don’t make it to Scotland tonight.

With Todd Cantwell’s summer transfer to Blackburn Rovers confirmed and Ianis Hagi still out of the picture under Clement, the Gers have been crying out for a new number 10 to ease the reliance on Tom Lawrence.

Hopefully, the Albanian international will finally be the man to do that.

While he won’t be available to feature against Celtic in the first Old Firm derby of the campaign, he should be rested and ready to hit the ground running after the international break.

In other Rangers news, a Lyall Cameron transfer update has emerged at Ibrox this summer amid links with a late Dundee exit
