Tom Lawrence and John Souttar are available to play for Rangers in their clash with Aberdeen, according to Philippe Clement.
The Light Blues make the trip to Pittodrie on Wednesday (30 October) as they look to make it back-to-back Premiership wins and close the gap to the top of the table, having beaten St Mirren last time out.
While Clement and his side will be boosted by the return of both Souttar and Lawrence, as well as Ianis Hagi after his suspension, four first-team players will remain rooted to the sidelines and therefore miss the crucial clash.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (29 October) he said: Tom Lawrence and John Souttar will be available – we will see if it is for 90 or not tomorrow.
“[Rabbi] Matondo, Ridvan [Yilmaz], [Oscar] Cortes and Danilo all working on returning with the physios. We have Ianis (Hagi) back tomorrow.”
What has happened to Tom Lawrence at Rangers and Ibrox?
This is the Gers’ biggest game of the Premiership season so far and it is a massive boost to Clement and his side to have both Lawrence and Souttar fit and available, even if they may not be ready to play a full game.
While both players have had their critics at points during their time in Glasgow, they have been some of the more consistent performers of the Clement era, particularly in the opening weeks of this season.
Lawrence in particular has managed to make the number 10 position his own at Ibrox. His displays just behind Cyriel Dessers have ensured that Nadim Bajrami has struggled to force his way into the squad in his natural position.
Of course, there is a chance Clement may well feel that the Albanian international is the better option to start against Jimmy Thelin’s side on Wednesday, but he will just be happy to have options to choose from once again.
Hopefully, the Light Blues can find a way to secure all three points and break the Dons’ unbeaten streak. It won’t be easy, but it could define Clement’s tenure at the season in Glasgow.
In other Rangers news, Vaclav Cerny has been told that he looks like a “little boy” when he plays in the Scottish Premiership
